How to Get Started?

Please express your interest by sending us a note on the “contact us” page with your name, phone number, society name.

Interested societies are invited for a site visit to a Waste Free Society in Mumbai

The society can then choose to sign up for the service.

Green Communities Foundation will then appoint a Resource Person to work with the society to convert it into a Waste Free Society.

The process followed by the Green Communities Foundation Resource Person is as follows –

01.

PRESENTATION

A 15 minute presentation to the society – preferably at its General Body meeting. Followed by Q&A. Appointment of 3 man project management team by the Society.

02.

PLANNING

Project planning with the project management team.

03.

EQUIPMENT PROVISION

First phase equipment provision to a small group of individual houses, training, joint house visits every few days until it (segregation) works smoothly. At this stage, there is no attempt to recycle the waste. The equipment consists of 3 bins per household and a laminated segregation chart.

04.

SEGREGATION

Once the first phase is implemented successfully, segregation training and equipment is extended to the entire society.

05.

COMPOSTING

Composting equipment is procured and setup in the society. The segregated wet waste is taken to the composting equipment by the society’s existing cleaning/housekeeping staff. Dry waste is handed over to recycling vendors who will collect at the society gate.

06.

AUDIT

The resource person assists the society to audit the waste process periodically through measurements and metrics.

07.

MAINTENANCE

Vertical gardens and/or other value additions are delivered. Housekeeping staff is trained on their maintenance, which involves nothing more than ensuring water in their tanks.

Vertical gardens are replaced/replanted periodically by Green Communities Foundation.
