Vision –

To save waste from being littered, burnt or going into dumping grounds through recycling, composting or co-processing and create waste free cities, towns and villages.

Mission –

To create urban and rural models for Waste Management by focusing on one ward in Mumbai and one district in rural Maharashtra respectively and make them waste free.

Strategy –

Our strategy is to work with various stakeholders like residential communities, government bodies, Corporates, Foundations, NGO partners and other entrepreneurs to implement our programs focused on segregation of waste at source and ensuring each stream of waste goes to the appropriate destination.

Founder Note –

Waste Management is a huge challenge facing not just our country but the entire world. When we don’t manage our waste correctly it leads to air, water and soil pollution thereby creating a direct adverse impact on human and environmental health. It also leads to loss of economic value and destruction of valuable resources which can provide dignified employment and livelihood opportunities for millions.

It is however like many other problems, not an easy one to solve and which needs a unified effort from all and sundry. It is critical to create islands of success which can inspire everyone and show the path for creating sustainable Waste Management programs.

Each one of us is a contributor to the problem since all of us generate waste. By the same logic, each one of us can be a part of the solution by starting with one’s home and extending it to the community. More than behaviour change, our incorrect beliefs need to change first. Belief that managing waste is not my problem, belief that I just need to keep my own home or community clean and not worry about where the waste goes or belief that one’s responsibility ends when we pay taxes and then it is someone else’s responsibility to manage our waste.

To quote Mahatma Gandhi:

Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.

The destiny of our environment is in our hands. We need to change certain beliefs today.
